Our Vision

The faith-based co-educational parish and school community of Pagewood will demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning in an innovative environment. The campus will revolve around the Church and deliver a state-of-the-art co-educational college that supports the thriving Catholic community. The site will be characterised by shared spaces, contemporary facilities and buildings for the parish, school and broader community. The vision for the college is a revitalised, cutting-edge Year 7 to Year 12 co-educational school.

Purpose for renewal

The masterplan has been carefully considered and designed to meet and support the needs of our growing community. The purpose for renewal is to:

  • Provide a continuum of Catholic education from preschool to Year 12 that caters to all students’ abilities, gifts, talents and skills, including a greater range of curriculum and co-curriculum choices;
  • Providing learning experiences which engage, challenge, extend and empower students.
  • Deliver high-quality, future-focused, innovative, state-of-the-art schools that meet the current and future school and community needs, including increased capacity;
  • Enhance school and parish connections, including the delivery of new or improved facilities for shared use with parishioners.

This is a joint initiative of:

The vision for the Champagnat Catholic College Pagewood is to build innovative, flexible and contemporary learning spaces that will broaden the curriculum offerings and enhance pedagogical practices. The college will offer opportunities for students to develop and grow spiritually, academically and socially in a pastorally caring environment focused on Gospel values, excellence and striving to achieve personal best. We want to develop spaces for learning and faith formation that can be used by partner primary schools and the parish.

Champagnat Catholic College will transition to a coeducational secondary school with enrolments accepted from March 2021 for boys and girls starting Year 7 in 2023 and an increase in school size to six streams by January 2025.

To support the increase in students and deliver exciting new learning and recreational spaces, the school campus will undergo a staged construction program over the next six years.

This will include:

  • New and contemporary admin and staff facilities in the Br Ivor Madigan wing
  • A new three-storey block will replace the existing admin and resource centre

The new building will include:

  • Resource centre with breakout space
  • Canteen
  • Seminar rooms and group spaces
  • 10 new classrooms
  • Seniors common area with deck
  • Student amenities
  • Increased outdoor space and new Covered Outdoor Learning Area
  • A new hall for parish and school use, including two full sized sports courts
  • A state of the art specialist music, dance, drama and fitness centre

Our vision for an innovative master plan
Sydney Catholic Schools, with support from the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, has developed a master plan for Pagewood to address the growing needs of the community. A master plan is needed to develop the long-term vision for the network to deliver high-quality facilities that will best support our student’s current and future educational needs. The master plan for the Pagewood area will include the creation of modern, contemporary learning experiences for our students through innovative classroom spaces, beautiful outdoor areas and community spaces which can support both the school and parish communities.

Who are our community stakeholders?
Sydney Catholic Schools, the Catholic Archdiocese of Sydney, school principals and parish priests have been collaborating to develop the master plan. Architectural services are being provided by QOH Architects and project management services are being provided by Sigma Superintendent. We will be seeking community feedback on the master plan from parents, staff and parishioners in the coming months.

How is the master plan servicing our growing community?
Demographic and population forecasts indicate we need to increase our capacity to meet the demand for quality Catholic education at all ages. There is also a high demand in the local area for secondary coeducation, with no systemic Catholic option currently provided.

We have an opportunity to renew our sites to deliver contemporary learning spaces and facilities, including beautiful outdoor spaces, for use by both the schools and parish that will last long into the future. We will be enabled to offer increased curriculum opportunities at both the primary school and secondary college. The renewal and improved use and sharing of spaces will help to foster better connections between the parishes, schools and community.

By 2025, Champagnat Catholic College will be a six-stream secondary school with capacity for 1080 students.

When can I enrol my daughter into Champagnat Catholic College?
Champagnat Catholic College will accept its first cohort of girls and boys in 2023 and enrolments will be open for this intake from March 2021.
