Why choose Corpus Christi College?

Corpus Christi College Maroubra is a school in the Marist tradition for all. It is a community striving for excellence which is centred on faith, learning and life.

Students at the college are empowered to embrace all opportunities presented; spiritually, academically, physically, culturally and socially with a determination to reach the highest standard, their personal best with both virtue and courage.

We focus on developing young people to have sharp minds and strong hearts who graduate as competent, compassionate and community minded.

Principal’s Message

Welcome to Corpus Christi College.  The college has a proud history of educating students from the eastern suburbs for over 60 years.  In 2023 the College has begun the transition to a coeducational college welcoming the first cohort of boys and girls in year 7.

As a College, we focus on working with parents to develop students with sharp minds and strong hearts who graduate as people of competence, conscience and compassion.

The College is blessed to offer a diverse curriculum that will enable all students to develop their talents and abilities. In stage 5 and 6 they will be able to tailor their educational pathway to meet their needs and abilities to ensure they achieve their personal best through a pathway that will develop and enrich their skills, talents and abilities.

Our College is one that is focused on developing the whole person, academically and  spiritually in a pastorally caring environment that encourages students to become good citizens that are community minded.

Again, welcome to our website and I trust that it will be helpful in finding the relevant information.

Corpus Christi College MaroubraHistory
Father John Power, Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Annunciation Parish invited the Marist Brothers with the Daughter of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to establish a school on the college’s current site.  Initially a single sex primary school it commenced in 1961.

From 1967 Marist Brothers Pagewood operated as a secondary college with the primary school students being moved to the Daceyville site.  For more than 50 years now the college has been educating boys from the eastern suburbs and continues to educate young men in the Marist tradition.

In 1996 the college’s name was changed to Marist College Pagewood.  The first lay principal was appointed with the last of the Marist brothers leaving at the end of the previous year.

In 2014 a trade training centre was established at the college and the school name was changed to Champagnat Catholic College recognising the founder of the Marist order Saint Marcellin Champagnat.

In 2021 Sydney Catholic Schools announced that Champagnat Catholic College would become the first comprehensive Coeducational Catholic College in the eastern suburbs starting with Year 7 in 2023. In 2022 Sydney Catholic Schools also announced the Colleges name would change to Corpus Christi College from 2023 and would continue to operate in the Marist tradition with a strong relationship with other Marist schools and the Marist family.

Motto
The three pillars of ministry, learning and wellbeing are a focus across Corpus Christi College in all facets of college life and are demonstrated in word and action. The college motto – KNOW GOD’S LOVE – is an expression of these three pillars demonstrated through:

  • KNOW – to be present, to witness and to learn
  • GOD’S – at the heart, and centre of all we do is the recognition of our Catholic and Marist heritage
  • LOVE – seen through the wellbeing and support of all within the community

To KNOW GOD’S LOVE is the aim of all we do and is the essence of our work as a truly Catholic, Marist and vibrant learning community.

Mission
Our mission is achieved by placing the highest value on:

  • Education
  • Spirituality
  • Community
  • Social Justice

Education of young people requires diligence and commitment, patience and kindness. We value individual difference and creativity and promote self-worth, encouraging students to reach their highest potential.

Spirituality will develop where there is understanding of the depth of love held for each of us by Jesus and Mary. We seek to provide an opportunity for each person to explore their faith in depth, building on the shared faith of parents and of the faith community.

Community binds us together in God’s love, reminding us of our shared dignity so that we support, promote and foster mutual respect for all who belong to the Marist family.

Social Justice compels us to work especially for those in need within the human family, offering them the opportunity to develop their gifts so that we may grow together in faith and as compassionate human beings.
